Los Angeles-based Lowe Enterprises has entered into exclusive negotiations with BHP Copper Inc. to form a joint venture for the development of BHP's 19,600 acres near San Manuel. The companies are proposing a master-planned development with residential, commercial, & light-industrial uses for the land, that includes part of BHP's former copper mine & processing plant in Pinal County adjacent to San Manuel. BHP shut down its San Manuel operations in June '99 & plans to complete reclamation work there by June '07.
