Plunkett's Son Held on Sexual Assault Charges

James Plunkett Jr., 22, son of football legend Jim Plunkett was arrested Saturday, two days after the alleged assault occurred, on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape and inflicting injury. He was released later than night in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said. An arraignment is scheduled for March 13. Police have not identified the woman or explained her relationship with Plunkett Jr. But his lawyer, Chuck Smith, said the two were dating and this client plans to fight the charges.
