New High School Approved By State Board
The Arizona School Facilities Board approved a new 1,500-student school Thursday for the Casa Grande Union High School District. The new school is scheduled to open for the 2008-09 school year. It will be built on state land on the southeast corner of Arizola Road and Cottonwood Lane. In all, the state School Facilities Board authorized construct of 13 new schools. Five of which are in Pinal County. In addition to the new CGUHS facility, the board gave the OK to two schools each in the Florence Unified and Maricopa Unified districts. The board also approved six schools in Maricopa County, all are in the fast-growing area west of Phoenix. Three are in the Saddle Mountain Unified School District, with one each for the Littleton, Palo Verde and Union elementary districts. Additionally, Marana Unified had two new schools authorized, and Yuma Elementary received additional space at an existing school.
