Hopkins To Compete In Arizona Senior Olympics This Saturday
Bert Hopkins, of the Gilson Wash District, will be competing in the Arizona Senior Olympics. Hopkins is a San Carlos Older Adult Center Elder and an Army Veteran. Hopkins is 57 years old and proudly proclaims he’s from Indian Route 6. Hopkins will be running on behalf of all San Carlos and Bylas Elders and the late Frank Dillon who used to be a driver for the OAC. He is scheduled to race on February 25th in Ahwatukee, on 49th St. and Pecos Rd in Phoenix at 9:30 a.m. in 10K.
Hopkins invites all tribal members to come and support him in his races, and well as other Arizona Senior Olympians. The Arizona Senior Olympics is an amateur event. With the exception of transportation being provided by the Older Adult Center, Hopkins is funding all trips by himself. Any contributions to his effort will be appreciated. Bert Hopkins competed in the Arizona Senior Olympics in Tempe (ASU) on Saturday (2/18) and placed FIRST in 3000 Meter Run and SECOND in 1500 Meter Run. He received two beautiful gold and silver medals for his effort.
