February Fire Update

The fire is almost 2,000 acres, but, is at 25% containment. The total of personnel involved is at 320. Equipment used so far are 12 engines, 2 dozers, 6 water tenders, three helicopters, & two air tankers. The fire is fueled by chaparral, pine and juniper and 12 miles north of Payson, in rough, broken, steep terrain. Due to safety concerns, the Control Road (FR 64) will be closed. The closure will cover the area from the Geronimo and Geronimo Estates Roads (FR 440 and FR 458) to the Washington Park Road (FR 32).
