F*cking Thieves

A specially designed bicycle donated by Chandler Regional Hospital to a 10-year-old boy with spina bifida was stolen over this past weekend, and his parents are asking for help in finding it. The boy, Erasmo Portillo of Chandler, suffers from the neural tube defect that can cause full or partial paralysis. The hospital gave him the $1,200 bicycle, complete with handgrips that act as pedals. But police say the bicycle was stolen between 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday from the family's carport in the 2600 block of East Commonwealth Avenue, where they keep it out of view from the street. The red bicycle is similar to a tricycle but bigger, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call Chandler police at (480) 782-4130.
