San Luis Police Captain Arrested

A DUI arrest has forced fifty-year-old John Gilbert Miranda resigned his post earlier this week, days after the California Highway Patrol arrested him for drunk driving. Miranda has had an earlier alcohol-related problem when he was demoted in 2003 after a DPS report found that he drank on duty at a 2001 meeting in Mexico and then crashed a city car on his way home. Miranda has filed for retirement and the arrest won't affect his pension. California prosecutors have yet to file formal charges.
