A FINE Day It WIll Be

The state could be on the path for $500,000 daily fines since it hasn't met a federal court's deadline to improve instructional programs for students learning the English language. A lawyer for plaintiffs whose lawsuit produced the court orders says the fines started yesterday but that he doesn't expect any checks to be written immediately.

Just a few things to point out;

1) The bill is directed to students that are learning Spanish to English, not other languages.

2) The daily fines will hurt the monies that go to the schools that are supposed to fund this program, and have an ESL program already instituted.

The schools in more rural areas will be hurting due to this judge's careless action. If he has kids, they more than likely attend schools with enough funding that his ruling won't hurt them as much.
