A.D.O.T. and Gila CC Announce Partnership
Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T) and Gila Community College have entered into an agreement in order to offer construction trades pre-apprenticeship training. The training will be offered in both northern and southern Gila County. The program is a unique opportunity for those who wish to consider pursuing a career in the construction trades, specifically in highway construction. The six-week program includes 180 clock hours of training and an overview in the following career areas: flagging certification, carpentry, surveying, welding, heavy equipment operating, plumbing, electrical, cement/iron work, OSHA safety certification, and blueprint reading. Those individuals who complete the training will have the opportunity to be considered for employment by highway construction companies throughout the state. Orientation for the program will be held on Friday, January 20, at 9:30 a.m. at Gila Pueblo Campus, with classes beginning on Monday, January 23, 2006.
