15th Annual Papago Military Vehicle Show
The 15th Annual Papago Military Vehicle Show takes place Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29, 2006. Hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, at the Arizona National Guard, 1335 N. 52nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85008. One block South of McDowell Road and 52nd Street. This event is hosted by, the Arizona National Guard and Arizona Military Vehicle Collectors Club.
At the show you can get a close look at all sorts of equipment used by armed forces in Iraq. Other features include Jeeps, Humvees, troop-carriers Howitzers, and truck mounted machine guns. Immediately following the Pledge of Allegiance at 12 noon on Saturday, the Maule Sisters will perform their exciting and patriotic, “Andrew Sisters Routine”. An auction of donated military surplus as well as items suitable for children to bid on begins Saturday at 1 PM.
A swap meet is scheduled for both days. Vendors are on-site buying, selling, and trading a variety of interesting merchandise. Army surplus, parts, uniforms, fatigues, and collectibles are for sale.
Military vehicles on display are judged for originality, body condition, and detail. Awards are presented at a buffet style banquet Saturday night at 8 PM. Special guests at this years show are, The Young Marines, a nationwide youth development program founded in 1958. General admission is free.
