Wickenburg Vice Mayor Resigns

Vice Mayor Bill Johnson announced his resignation from the Wickenburg Town Council. He told members of the audience during a recent council meeting it was with mixed emotions that he found himself at a point where he must ask to be relieved of his position. He felt he had too many demands that had to be met and decided this would be best. Johnson said he did not like leaving before his term expired, but felt he couldn't continue as a member of the council if he could not give it his best effort. Johnson said he wouldn't leave until a replacement was found. Any interested persons can submit letters of intent to Town Manager Shane Dille regarding his or her interest in serving the remainder of Johnson's term. Those interested in being appointed to serve the remainder of Johnson's term must be 18 years of age, must be a registered voter, have the ability to register, and must be a minimum one-year resident of the Town of Wickenburg. Mayor Ron Badowski will appoint a new vice mayor, and would like all letters of intent to be received by the end of the year in order for the council to discuss potential candidates during a special meeting, Thursday, Jan. 5. The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall.
