Queen Creek Transportation
Queen Creek plans to more than double its budget for transportation projects, adding about $14.8 million in the middle of its fiscal year. The change would bring the budget for transportation improvements to $27.3 million. Public Works director Dick Schaner said many of the roads in town must be completely reconstructed in some places because they weren't built for the traffic the area now draws. The budget change is part of a larger plan to commit $60 million to new roads over the next five years. Renovations will start with road widening and rubberized asphalt near the town's center, along with temporary signals at a handful of intersections. the budget will decided by the Town Council on Dec. 21.
