The Globe Public Library is moving up its holiday amnesty. The library will accept Food for Fines from 10:am Monday, November 21, until 5:30pm on Saturday, November 26. Exchange one non-perishable food item for $1 credit against overdue fines. The library will close at 5:30pm Wednesday, November 23, for Thanksgiving and will reopen on Friday, November 25 at 10:am.

Las Lomas' Winter Music Program is scheduled for December 1, and will feature a silent auction at which a wealth of goods and services will be available to lucky bidders. Some gift baskets include, a casino golf package as well as hand-made crafts as a few of the items that could be perfect presents for loved ones - or for yourself! Bidding starts at 5:30 p.m., and all auction proceeds go to PTO to fund programs and opportunities for the children. The program starts at 6 p.m.

Nomination packets for city of Globe mayor and council districts one through six are now available and may be obtained at the city clerk's office, 150 N. Pine Street, from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Packets must be returned by 5 p.m. Dec. 14 for the March 14, 2006, primary election and May 16, 2006 general election. The Salvation Army is accepting Angel Tree registrations through Friday, Dec. 2 (final deadline). Persons may sign up Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army office, 161 E. Cedar St. in Globe. For more information, call the SA office at (928) 425-4011.

The annual Toy Run, sponsored by the Loners Motorcycle Club, will begin at noon on Saturday, Dec. 3. Riders will meet across from Bullion Plaza in Miami and ride to the Globe Community Center for a day of fun activities, including auctions and door prizes. All vendors are welcome. Also, the group Jynx will be performing. Admission is one toy of $10 value and two cans of food. Proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army and kids of the Globe-Miami area. On Nov. 21st at St. Anthony's of Padua Church located at 201 North Picacho St. in Casa Grande there will be an American Red Cross "Blood Drive" starting at 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. For more information call 1-800 Give Life

The 17th Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering December 2rd - 4th, 2005 is at the Wickenburg Performing Arts Center. Join cowboy poets the first weekend in December for offerings of poems, songs and ideas with a western theme.
